CSMA 102 Technology, Art & Culture

This foundational course ties together major themes and movements in the history of the arts, science and technology up to the present day with a focus on their impact on culture at large. Examining the cutting edge of current and near future developments from a historical perspective, students will learn to identify major technological and artistic innovations that often drive disruptive societal change. Course lecture material and supplemental readings pay particular attention to pioneering individuals and groups leading innovation with cross-disciplinary, forward-thinking and experimental work. Throughout the semester students will complete regular writing assignments and presentations, culminating in a semester research paper. Lecture.
