IDES 164 Interior Design History 1

This is the first of a two-course survey examining the history and theories of interiors and architecture. Emphasis is placed on gaining an understanding of the plastic arts and their relevance to and impact on the larger world, culturally, politically, etc. Significant works of furniture, interior spaces, and architecture; important architects and designers; formal and structural elements; periods, styles, theories, and regional differences within a given style or period are studied.
